Forest Preserve Executive to Speak at Lake Zurich Rotary Friday

Rebekah Synder, chief development officer of the Lake County Forest Preserves will speak to the Lake Zurich Rotary Club on Friday. Synder’s talk, “The Value of the Forest Preserves” will trace how Lake County residents came to have 30,700 acres of open space to enjoy.

The Forest Preserves also manages  202 miles of multi-use trails, fishing ponds and lakes, public access to the Fox River and Lake Michigan, four public golf courses, and award winning educational, recreational and cultural opportunities for all ages. Each year more than 3.5 million enjoy the preserves or benefit from programs, even after eight years of declining public funds.  She'll tell us how they've managed to thrive by being economical with taxpayer dollars.

Synder, who works to attract private, non-profit and corporate funds to the Forest Preserves, has worked for the county since 2012.  She has also worked for the Nature Conservancy and the Chicago Botanical Gardens.
