Creation Care: A Conservation Celebration is taking place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Pleasant Valley Conservation Area in Woodstock. This collaboration is between FaithBridge Interfaith, the McHenry County Conservation District, Advocate Smart Farm, and Rotary Clubs across the county. It’s designed to unite the community for an afternoon of environmental stewardship, spiritual reflection, and community connection.

Event Highlights:

  • Integral Ecology & Spiritual Reflection: Explore the relationship between ecology and spirituality with insights from esteemed speakers, including Cindy Cramer from Saint Anne Catholic Community, who will discuss Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home.
  • Music, Arts & Storytelling: Enjoy the soothing sounds of Indigenous flutist Bill Buchholtz and engage in creative land-based artmaking, storytelling, and a butterfly dance.
  • Interactive Presentations: Learn about the vital roles of bees, pollinators, and local farming initiatives through interactive tables and presentations from Rotary members and other experts.
  • Tree and Pollinator Planting: Join us in planting trees and pollinator plants, contributing to creating a healthier local ecosystem and future forest.

Participants are encouraged to bring sturdy shoes, work gloves, and weather-appropriate clothing, as the event will include hands-on activities in the great outdoors. Water will be provided, and attendees are asked to bring reusable water bottles to reduce waste. Registration is required, so please sign up online at www.faithbridgeinterfaith.org.
